CNY + Time of the month = …
January 28, 2009
Bloody huge zit on my face, that’s what. Getting annoyed with “Eeee…pimple” comments from very concerned friends. And it’s growing bigger by the day. Argh I wish I didn’t have to go to school later, pfft.
My CNY weekend was surprisingly good, and I do not say that just because I had a little taste of alcohol.
Friday
Met my dear girls from JC for a nice reunion dinner, but not all turned up. LOY XUAN!!! Had fantastic fried man tous, my all-time favourite food since I was a kid. Huiqi decided to venture into the realm of spicy food, good on you girl. She decided that the hotplate toufu was too much for her to handle, but seconds later, we caught her dipping mantou with the hotplate toufu sauce, claiming that it wasn’t spicy anymore and that it’s different. Rubbish I say.

It was a short but fuzzy meet-up, taking into consideration that most of us don’t know where Rachel Loh disappears to most of the time.
I headed to Mr Ngiam’s 22nd birthday party at Holiday Inn Atrium for a supposed night of mayhem and fun. Not to offend you Mr Ngiam, but my night of partying actually started at Attica, haha. But I enjoyed myself thoroughly at his party, making new friends, learning to play games that aim to drown oneself in their own vomit after massive intake of alcohol, etc etc.

Zouk was a tad bit disappointing that night. Ok, not exctly Zouk, Velvet to be exact. Harry and Ben decided that it would be their last visit to Velvet so we had to down 2 bottles or so of Belvedere Vodka in 1 night. I helped them with about 2 glasses, and I was down.
Brought Ben to Attica to meet Wei and company, where they ordered a 6L champagne bottle. I’m telling you, it is MASSIVE. I have photos, will upload later.
Saturday
Bummed around at home and left for Ann Siang Hill with Edwin at 2ish. Complained at the insanely overpriced items at Front Row, and at the same time, wow-ing at how meticulous and interesting those pieces of work are. Left after 2 hours or so of window shopping, for home and got ready for reunion dinner at Miramar Hotel. It was a good dinner (am not talking about the food here). The company was perfect, my brother’s annoying ways have returned to haunt me, same ol’ topics we would talk about and of course, how can I forget the repeated naggings year after year?
Met Nelson and his friends for a short while at Robertson Quay for drinks at the Corner Stone, and then headed to Cine for “Changeling” with Wei. Fantastic movie, good work there by Clint Eastwood. Love the colours, the costumes especially. Impeccable! What annoyed me was that some people in the cinema didn’t really sympathise with the characters in movie, so they thought it was funny to laugh at certain parts of the show that I thought was rather serious.
Sunday
Slept for 12 hours (don’t ask me how I managed that, I just did) and woke up with 1 purpose in mind: clean up my room. Never gotten around to it except the clearing of dirty laundry that has been lying on the floor ever since..never mind.
Couldn’t decide to go out because a few of us were too lazy, but I managed to drag myself out at midnight for an adventurous night of L4D with Nelson. Good fun I must say!
Visited the temple for CNY prayers and walked endlessly till 5 in the morning.
Monday
Went to grandma’s house at Tampines, dropped by at Nelson’s and Joel’s at Simei (they live a few blocks away from each other!), played more L4D with Nelson and went over to Neil’s place for a supposed sober night of chilling. I ended up being thrashed at 5-10, that led to massive amounts of drinks. Also, he kept forcing me to down Cognac shots which tasted like shit. And half an hour later, the not-so-shy Jayne was hogging to the microphone for the karaoke like she was hanging on to dear life.
Tuesday
I was at my cousin’s place and gambled on MJ from 2ish till 8ish, with meal breaks in between and I almost fell asleep! It was not too bad, won $6 haha. I had a lot to eat, which I am very contented with. Yumm, time to lose weight!
Guess who is in the Chronicle?! Ok, although it’s only the Chronicle, I’m still very pleased with how the pictures turned out. Looky looky!

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009
January 2, 2009
According to the Chinese horoscope, 2008 was supposed to be a bad year for me. It still is a bad year, considering that it’s still the 12th month in the lunar calendar.
2008 in wraps: Much slacking around which I did not accomplish much except my short stint at NHG and of course, AsiaOne at SPH. Really enjoyed my internship at AsiaOne because the team cannot get any more lovely than that. I met the greatest people anyone can ever meet: Adrian Tay and Lim, Jill, Simran, Yong Jian, Peijie, Uncle Julian, Raymond Poon, Geri, etc. You guys rock! Every single one of them lent much support to me during the appeal period and helped a great deal. I wouldn’t be where I am today without this amazing group of people. A BIG thank you to all of you!
After much worrying and anxiety of not getting into any uni at all, I finally got accepted into NTU CS, which I am really really grateful for. A fresh start, a new chapter. Xinyi, Joanne, Sze Ee, Joel, Derek, Sufi, Sean.
You all make each day in school so much more bearable! Again, I am grateful for wonderful friends who have walked into my life and held me when I really needed someone. LOVE YOU guys long time.
Those were the 2 major milestones of 2008, doesn’t seem really accomplished but both have set the foundation for better years to come.
Slowly becoming a tradition, the o6S26 had its NYE party again. And this year, it was a huge success! Phew.
(This is gonna be massive.)

Can’t really remember his name but he’s the best waiter/dancer I’ve ever seen.

That’s NYE/NY 2009 for me!
I have about 247 pictures in total from a night of mayhem with my homies. Madness!!!
